49ers' Ambry Thomas: Opening season on IR
The 49ers placed Thomas (forearm) on injured reserve Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Thomas is underwent surgery to repair his right forearm, which he broke during the 49ers' preseason opener against the Titans. It's unclear when he'll be cleared to return to practice, but Thomas will be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season while on IR. The earliest he can return is Week 5 against the Cardinals on Oct. 6.

49ers' Ambry Thomas: Requires surgery for forearm
Thomas will undergo surgery to repair his broken right forearm, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
Thomas broke his right forearm in the first half of Saturday's preseason loss against the Titans. The recovery from his surgery will keep the 2021 third-round pick sidelined for multiple weeks. With Thomas on the shelf, the 49ers will try out Renardo Green, Samuel Womack and Rock Ya-Sin to serve as the second starting corner opposite Charvarius Ward.

Thomas suffered a broken right forearm in the 49ers' 17-13 preseason loss to the Titans on Saturday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Thomas left shortly before halftime Saturday and finished the contest with one tackle. Thomas will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Titans due to a forearm injury.
Thomas sustained the injury shortly before halftime and took a cart to the locker room. He'll finish the 49ers' preseason opener with one tackle. Expect Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin, Chase Lucas and Samuel Womack to see more time at corner in the second half of Saturday's game.
