Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Dealing with shoulder issue
Wallace (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Wallace appears to have picked up a shoulder injury in Carolina's Week 14 loss to the Eagles, as he played just 37 defensive snaps (his lowest mark since Week 4) and recorded six total tackles. If the rookie linebacker from Kentucky is unable to upgrade to at least limited practice Thursday or Friday, he'll likely be sidelined for a Week 15 matchup against the Cowboys.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Productive in scaled-back role
Wallace recorded six tackles (three solo) during Sunday's 22-16 loss at Philadelphia.
Wallace's defensive snap count of 37 was his lowest since Week 4, but he remains firmly fixed as the Panthers' second option at inside linebacker behind Josey Jewell. He could be called on more frequently in Week 15 versus the pass-happy Cowboys.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Logs first career sack Sunday
Wallace recorded five total tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the Buccaneers.
Wallace was one of four Panthers defenders to record a sack in the Week 13 loss, bringing down Baker Mayfield for an eight-yard loss in overtime that led to a missed 55-yard field goal from Chase McLaughlin. The 2024 third-round pick was thrust into a starting role after Shaq Thompson tore his Achilles in Week 4, recording 55 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles in eight games since. Wallace is expected to remain one of the Panthers' top defensive playmakers in a Week 14 matchup against the Eagles.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Records seven stops vs. Washington
Wallace tallied seven total tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 40-7 loss to the Commanders.
The 2024 third-round pick out of Kentucky tied Xavier Woods for the second-most tackles on the Panthers' defense Sunday, trailing only Chau Smith-Wade's eight-stop performance. Wallace has now recorded 31 total tackles and forced one fumble while playing 100 percent of Carolina's defensive snaps over the last three weeks following Shaq Thompson's (Achilles) season-ending injury. Expect Wallace to continue serving as one of the Panthers' top inside linebackers in Week 8's matchup against the Broncos.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Nine more tackles in defeat
Wallace recorded nine tackles (six solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Panthers' loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Wallace made his second straight start with Shaq Thompson (Achilles, IR) done for the season. After recording 15 tackles (10 solo) in Week 5 against the Bears, Wallace continued his tackling ways versus Atlanta. He added the fumble recovery in the second quarter after Ray-Ray McCloud coughed up the football. Wallace should continue to rack up the tackles going forward with the Panthers projected to be trailing on the scoreboard most weeks, allowing opponents to run the ball more, leading to higher tackle rates for Carolina's linebackers.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Leading tackler at Chicago
Wallace recorded 15 tackles (10 solo) during Sunday's 36-10 loss at the Bears.
Wallace was thrust into a huge role in Week 5, logging 69 defensive snaps after playing 32 defensive snaps total in Weeks 1-4 combined. He made the most of his opportunity and posted a ridiculous tackle total in a game where Chicago ran the football 39 times. He probably won't see quite as many chances versus the Falcons in Week 6.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Slated to start versus Chicago
Wallace is expected to start at linebacker on Sunday against the Bears, Darin Gantt on the Panthers' official website reports.
With Josey Jewell (hamstring) inactive and Shaq Thompson (Achilles) on injured reserve, Wallace will slide into a starting job in the middle of the Carolina defense. Wallace was a third-round pick in this year's NFL Draft and has played just 36 defensive snaps through four contests.

Panthers' Trevin Wallace: Carolina bound in third round
The Panthers selected Wallace in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 72nd overall.
Wallace might be a little more toolsy than skilled for the time being, but at the very least, the Kentucky standout is a memorable athlete at linebacker. At 6-foot-1, 237 pounds Wallace logged a 4.51-second 40-yard dash to go with a 37.5-inch vertical and 127-inch broad jump. Wallace might even have some edge-rushing potential thanks to his blitz-friendly skill set (5.5 sacks in 2023). For now, though, Wallace will likely back up both Shaq Thompson and Josey Jewell.
