Edwards suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain during the Buccaneers' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers this past Sunday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Edwards was unable to return to this past Sunday's game after straining his hamstring in the first half, and he finished the contest with four tackles (two solo). The Grade 1 strain indicates Edwards avoided a serious injury, but the expectation is that he'll likely be out for at least one week. If he's unable to play against the Raiders on Sunday, Edwards' next opportunity to suit up will be Week 15 against the Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 15. Christian Izien is the top candidate to start at strong safety alongside free safety Antoine Winfield due to Edwards' injury, and the Bucs added depth to the position by signing Kaevon Merriweather off the Lions' practice squad Tuesday.

The Buccaneers claimed Edwards off waivers Thursday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Edwards will be with his third team in two weeks after being waived by the Bills and Titans on Nov. 5 and Wednesday, respectively. This time, Edwards is headed to a familiar environment, having been selected by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft and playing a part in Tampa Bay's Super Bowl LV win following the 2020 regular season. Edwards will bolster a Bucs secondary that is dealing with injuries to Zyon McCollum (hamstring) and Tykee Smith (knee).

Mike Edwards: Out in Tennessee
The Titans waived Edwards on Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
The 28-year-old signed with the Titans on Nov. 6 following his release from the Bills, but he was inactive for Tennessee's loss to the Chargers in Week 10 and has now been cut loose again. Before his brief run in Tennessee, Edwards had played just seven defensive snaps and recorded one total tackle in three appearances with Buffalo this season.
