Giants' Armon Watts: Placed on IR
Watts (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Watts was expected to miss Thursday's contest against the Cowboys as a result of a shoulder injury he presumably suffered in Week 12 versus the Buccaneers, but he will now be forced to sit out at least the next four games with the injury. In his absence, Jordon Riley is a candidate to see additional snaps on the defensive line.

Watts played his typical workload during Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers but seemingly picked up the injury along the way. Watts was released from the Patriots' injured reserve Oct. 2 due to an unspecified injury, but he was healthy enough to catch on with the Giants' practice squad after working out with Big Blue on Oct. 15. Now on the active roster, the 2019 sixth-round pick will provide rotational depth at defensive end behind starters Elijah Chatman and Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Watts' agent, David Canter of GSE Football announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that the defensive lineman agreed to a contract with the Steelers.
Watts racked up 35 tackles for the Bears in 2022, appearing in all 17 games and starting 12. In Pittsburgh, Watts will compete with Breiden Fehoko and Montravius Adams for a starting spot at defensive tackle.

Watts notched three tackles in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 35 tackles and one sack over 17 games played.
Watts played about 30 snaps per game as a backup defensive tackle after coming off a career season in 2021 with the Vikings, when he recorded 46 tackles and five sacks. In his rotational role, he averaged two tackles per game, and he'll likely land a similar role next year. He's now an unrestricted free agent.
