Week 9 State of the Minnesota Vikings

Top Tanner Vallejo News

  • Tanner Vallejo: Let go by Minnesota

The Vikings released Vallejo on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Vallejo signed with the Vikings on Aug. 13. He spent the last four seasons with the Cardinals where he registered 81 tackles (52 solo), 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 45 games. The 2017 sixth-round pick out of Boise State should gather some interest from a team looking for a veteran linebacker. He'll be able to explore his options once he clears waivers.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Activated from COVID-19 list

The Cardinals activated Vallejo (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

Vallejo can now return to team facilities and begin preparing for Monday's playoff matchup against the Rams. He projects to handle his usual role on special teams, while also providing depth at linebacker.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Enters COVID protocols

Vallejo was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. This was the result of testing positive for the virus, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Vallejo returned Sunday against Dallas after a six-week absence due to a knee injury. Now Vallejo is in danger of missing the Cardinals' Week 18 matchup with the Seahawks. When healthy he has provided depth at linebacker and worked on special teams, roles to which he'll work to return, if he can clear protocols in time.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Activated, should return Sunday

Vallejo (knee) mwas activated from the IR/designated for return list Saturday.

Vallejo hasn't played since Week 10 and the injury couldn't have come at a worse time for him, as he was starting to earn a bigger role on defense. He should be available for Arizona's final two games of the regular season, but it remains to be seen what kind of role he'll have.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Designated to return

Vallejo (knee) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday.

Vallejo had been on injured reserve since Nov. 20, but he'll be eligible to participate in Wednesday's practice. Whether he's available for the final two games of the regular season remains to be seen, but he appears to be trending toward a return.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Heads to IR

Vallejo (knee) was put on injured reserve Saturday.

Vallejo had already been ruled out of Week 11 but now gets several weeks to fully recover. Joe Walker and Tahir Whitehead both joined the active roster Saturday and could absorb the 26-year-old's vacated snaps.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Won't feature Sunday

Vallejo (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site.

Vallejo didn't play in Week 6 against Cleveland but logged at least 35 percent of the snaps in each of his last three games. However, he's been ruled out against the Seahawks and will miss his second game of the campaign. The former Boise State standout has not played more than 50 percent of the snaps in any single contest, though, so his absence shouldn't affect Arizona's defensive plan considerably.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Vallejo: Expects to be available Thursday

Vallejo (hand) recorded a full practice Wednesday and is expected to be available for the Cardinals' Week 8 contest with the Packers on Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Vallejo was forced to miss the Cardinals' Week 6 game with the Browns as his hand injury was just starting to bother him. The linebacker managed to play in Week 7 against the Texans as he recorded a season-high number of defensive snaps (10). Expect Vallejo to be able to play against the Packers on Thursday night.
