Bishop Sankey: Hits free agency
Sankey (knee) is an unrestricted free agent after the Vikings declined to offer him a tender, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Sankey was set to be a restricted free agent, but the Vikings opted to let him hit free agency coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL last August. The 25-year-old hasn't played an NFL snap over the past two seasons and has a lot to prove if he is to earn a roster spot in 2018.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Has surgery to repair ACL
Sankey underwent surgery on his torn ACL last week and has begun rehab, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Sankey was waived and reverted to injured reserve after tearing his ACL in the Vikings' preseason opener. With his rehab already underway, Sankey should be able to recover in time for the start of the 2018 season. However, a serious injury like this could put his NFL future in serious jeopardy.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Reverts to IR
Sankey (knee) cleared waivers and reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Sankey tore his right ACL in the Vikings' preseason opener and was waived two days later. He should have plenty of time to recover in time for the 2018 campaign, but since the 25-year-old was on the roster bubble in 2017 prior to the serious injury, his NFL career seemingly hangs in the balance. Second-year running back Bronson Hill was signed to take Sankey's place on the training-camp roster.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Suffers torn ACL
Sankey sustained a torn ACL during Thursday's preseason win at Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Vikings held out Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon on Thursday, providing Sankey with a window in which to impress the coaching staff. Sankey received four carries for 14 yards and gathered in four of five targets for 15 yards before suffering a knee injury, which has been revealed to be season-ending. Injured reserve is almost certainly in the 2014 second-round pick's future.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Leaves game with knee ailment
Sankey (knee) is out for the remainder of Thursday's game in Miami.
Sankey worked in as the backup running back for parts of camp since Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon have both been battling injuries. Sankey's working with the disadvantage that he hasn't played since 2015, a season where he was able to record two touchdowns -- one rushing and one receiving. It's likely he stays on with the Vikings if he's healthy, but his regular-season time is mainly dependent on injuries.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Set for MRI on Friday
Sankey (knee) was seen on crutches after Thursday's preseason game and will be sent for an MRI on Friday, Andrew Krammer of The Star Tribune reports.
Sankey got into the mix Thursday with Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon sitting out, but he only saw four carries before suffering the knee injury. He had a brace on his knee in addition to being on crutches in the Minnesota locker room following Thursday's tilt. Friday's MRI should shed some more light on the exact nature of Sankey's knee injury.

Vikings' Bishop Sankey: Getting second-team reps
Sankey has been working as the backup running back to Dalvin Cook in training camp with both Latavius Murray (ankle) and Jerick McKinnon (leg) hurt, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Sankey could make the final 53-man roster if C.J. Ham is moved to fullback or if Murray misses games while recovering from offseason ankle surgery. Sankey would likely need several injuries before he'd see meaningful regular season action, however.
