Teddy Williams: Requests release
Williams has requested his release from the Giants in order to deal with a family health issue, Herbie Teope of NFL.com reports.
Williams hopes to play for the Giants at some point during the 2018 regular season, but the cornerback doesn't want to tie up a roster spot as he tends to a family health matter. It's a mature move by the NFL journeyman, who has played for five different teams through five years in the league.

Giants' Teddy Williams: Signs with Giants
Williams signed a one-year, $880,000 contract with the Giants on Thursday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.
Williams spent all of 2017 on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and played just three games in 2016. He'll likely only see time as a backup as long as he's with the club, unless a rash of injuries to the position forced him into a larger role.

Teddy Williams: Cut by Carolina
The Panthers released Williams (shoulder) on Wednesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
After suiting up in all 16 games for Carolina in 2015, Williams had been a non-factor for the team the past two seasons, appearing in just three contests while spending all of 2017 on injured reserve. It's unsure what the future holds for the 29-year-old, who is unlikely to generate much interest on the open market after dealing with a litany of health issues the last two years.

Panthers' Teddy Williams: Planted on IR
Williams (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams sustained a shoulder stinger in Thursday's preseason finale against the Steelers. Barring an injury settlement, he's unlikely to come off IR until season's end.

Panthers' Teddy Williams: Staying in Carolina
Williams has signed a one-year contract to remain with the Panthers.
Williams played in just three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury last season, but the time off since he landed on IR in October should allow him to be ready for the 2017 campaign, when he figures to mostly factor in on special teams.

Panthers' Teddy Williams: Placed on injured reserve
Williams (knee) was placed on the Panthers' injured reserve list Friday, ESPN reports.
Williams sustained an injury to his left knee towards the beginning of Thursday's practice that evidently proved to be serious in nature. Leonard Johnson (Achilles), who was activated from the Panthers' NFI list Friday, will take his place on the active roster.

Panthers' Teddy Williams: Returns to practice
Williams (groin) returned to practice on Sunday, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams has been sidelined for more than a week now with a groin injury, but appears to be back to full strength and ready to return to the field. He's slated to be a depth option at cornerback during the upcoming season and should get his last preseason opportunity to prove his worth during the Panthers' finale versus the Steelers on Sept. 1.

Panthers' Teddy Williams: Not in uniform Saturday
Williams (groin) is not in uniform for Carolina's second preseason game Saturday, Max Henson of the team's official site reports.
Despite appearing in 16 games for the Panthers last season, Williams struggled to make his presence felt, recording just 13 combined tackles. However, thanks to the abrupt offseason departure of Josh Norman, Williams' name has surfaced as a possible replacement for Carolina's ailing secondary. If the former track star is not able to get healthy soon, he could see his opportunity slip.
