  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Pops for 11 points Wednesday

Hyland contributed 11 points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and three assists over seven minutes during Wednesday's 123-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Hyland popped for 11 points in seven minutes as the Clippers were soundly beaten by an impressive Dallas outfit. Now trailing 3-2 in the series, Los Angeles will need to turn things around in a hurry should they hope to extend it to a seventh game.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Out Sunday

Hyland (not injury related) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rockets, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.

Hyland has totaled 57 points, 15 assists and six steals over his last two appearances, including one start, and he was in line for another elevated role Sunday, as most of the Clippers' regulars are resting. However, the youngster has been ruled out an hour before tipoff after not being listed on any of the previous injury reports. It's unclear if he'll have a regular rotational role during the postseason.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Top scorer off bench in extra time

Hyland chipped in 20 points (7-17 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals over 30 minutes during Friday's 110-109 loss to the Jazz.

Hyland led all Clippers in scoring and threes made while handing out a team-best assist total and a team-high-tying trio of steals while receiving extended minutes off the bench with Los Angeles resting some of its starters. Hyland has surpassed the 20-point mark in two games this season, finishing with at least five boards and five assists in two contests. We could see Hyland earn extra minutes again in the regular-season finale Sunday.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Returns to bench

Hyland will come off the bench Friday against the Jazz, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.

Hyland drew the start at point guard Wednesday while Russell Westbrook and James Harden recovered from injury, but he'll shift back to the bench for Friday's action. Hyland recorded seven points, nine rebounds and two assists over 17 minutes in his last appearance as a reserve Tuesday in Phoenix.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Season best outing in start

Hyland closed with 37 points (15-29 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, nine assists and three steals across 43 minutes during Wednesday's 124-108 loss to the Suns.

Hyland got the starting nod with Russell Westbrook (hand) and James Harden (foot) out, putting forth his best outing of the year while leading all players in Wednesday's contest in threes made and leading the Clippers in scoring, assists and steals in an all-around showing. Hyland set season high marks in scoring and threes made, surpassing the 20-point mark for the first time of the year. He posted his second-best assist total of the 2023-24 campaign, finishing behind only his season high of 11 assists recorded March 14 against Chicago.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Retreats to bench

Hyland will come off the bench during Sunday's game against the Hawks, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Hyland got two spot starts with James Harden (shoulder) out of the lineup, but he will return to his usual bench spot Sunday. With Norman Powell (lower leg) out of the lineup, Hyland could still be in for ample playing time.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Struggles in spot start

Hyland accumulated five points (2-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 24 minutes during Friday's 112-104 loss to the Pelicans.

Hyland got the starting nod once again with James Harden ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Coming off a strong performance Thursday, Hyland failed to repeat his heroics, tallying just five points in 24 minutes. Harden's injury doesn't sound as though it is going to cause him to miss significant time, meaning Hyland's stretch of relevance could end just as quickly as it began.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Takes advantage of spot start

Hyland notched 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and four steals over 32 minutes during Thursday's 126-111 victory over the Bulls.

Hyland was inserted into the starting lineup with James Harden (shoulder) sidelined. Hyland made the most of his opportunity as he recorded his first double-double of the season and the third of his career. His 11 assists Thursday tied a career high set in December of 2022, and his 17 points were his most since Nov. 10 against the Mavericks. Law Murray of The Athletic reported after Thursday's game that Harden is uncertain he'll play Friday against the Pelicans, and if that's the case, Hyland figures to reprise his starting role.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Starting for injured Harden

Hyland will get the start Thursday against the Bulls in place of the injured James Harden (shoulder), Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Hyland has been a consistent part of the rotation over the past seven games, and it appears coach Tyronn Lue has seen enough to give him a chance at starting in place of Harden. Hyland has gotten the nod in two prior games this season, totaling 21 points, eight assists, two steals and one rebound in 66 minutes. Per 36 minutes, he's averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals. The Clippers will still have Kawhi Leonard (back) after an injury scare, however, so it won't be just up to Hyland and Paul George to generate first-unit offense.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Plays well off bench

Hyland ended with eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 118-100 loss to Minnesota.

Kawhi Leonard left this game early after 12 minutes with a back issue and didn't return, and Hyland made the most of his limited minutes. He had no rhythm at the beginning of March, but he's played well in three straight games with averages of 10.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Enters rotation for Clippers

Hyland notched zero points (0-3 FG) and two assists in 14 minutes during Sunday's 89-88 victory over Minnesota.

After not playing at all in February, Hyland has averaged 15.0 minutes in his last two appearances. He's getting some opportunity with Russell Westbrook (wrist) out indefinitely, but there's some obvious rust to shake off with a combined two points in those games on 1-for-10 shooting.
