Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Nears double-double in win
Wells racked up 23 points (7-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal across 27 minutes during Saturday's 96-86 Summer League win against the Trail Blazers.
Wells came on strong in the second half for Memphis, as he went on to lead all scorers with 23 points. This was an impressive bounce-back performance for the Washington State product after he struggled with his shooting in Friday's game against Boston. Despite having his rookie year in Memphis cut short due to season-ending shoulder surgery, Wells made an impression, averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 79 regular-season games while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from deep.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Two swipes in loss
Wells finished with 13 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 23 minutes during Friday's 92-78 Summer League loss to the Celtics.
Despite struggling with his shooting, Wells recorded a game-high two steals. The promising young forward missed Tuesday's game against Philadelphia for rest purposes. He'll likely be monitored closely by the Grizzlies coaching staff, as he's coming off a right wrist fracture that ended his rookie season in April.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Resting Tuesday
Wells (rest) won't play in Tuesday's Summer League game against the 76ers, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.
Wells will sit out the second night of the club's back-to-back set. The 21-year-old posted 23 points across 29 minutes in Monday's loss to the Jazz. His next chance to play will come Friday against the Celtics.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Shines in Summer League
Wells produced 20 points (5-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 26 minutes of Saturday's 92-80 Summer League win over the Thunder.
Wells suffered a fractured right wrist in addition to a concussion back on April 8 to cut his rookie season short, but he didn't have any limitations heading into Saturday's game. With the Grizzlies moving on from Desmond Bane, the franchise clearly has high hopes for Wells after his promising rookie campaign - he averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 three-pointers and 0.6 steals in 25.9 minutes per contest across 74 regular-season games. He could be poised for a breakout in Year 2.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Taking part in summer ball
Wells (wrist) is listed on the Grizzlies' roster for the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer Leagues.
A second-round pick last June, Wells was a mainstay in the Memphis rotation throughout his rookie campaign. He appeared in each of the Grizzlies' first 79 games (74 starts) and averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 three-pointers and 0.6 steals in 25.9 minutes per contest before his season came to an end when he suffered a fractured right wrist in addition to a concussion after he fell hard to the court on a dunk attempt in an April 8 game against the Hornets. His inclusion on the Grizzlies' summer squad suggests that he has recovered from both injuries. However, as one of the more established players on the roster, Wells is unlikely to be in line for extended playing time in Las Vegas and Salt Lake. Heading into his second NBA season, Wells should once again be a key part of a Memphis wing rotation that includes holdovers Vince Williams and John Konchar and newcomers Ty Jerome, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cedric Coward (shoulder).

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Out for remainder of season
The Grizzlies announced Friday that Wells (wrist, concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Wells suffered a scary fall on a dunk attempt April 8 against the Hornets, resulting in a fractured right wrist and a concussion. With the playoffs on the horizon, the Grizzlies will undoubtedly miss the 21-year-old rookie, who started 74 games and averaged 10.4 points. Moving forward, Vince Williams slots in as the starting small forward, and reserves Luke Kennard and John Konchar could see more playing time.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Diagnosed with broken wrist
Wells is awake, alert and moving his extremities after being taken off the court in a stretcher during Tuesday's game versus the Hornets. However, the rookie guard has suffered a broken right wrist, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
It is a good sign that Wells appears not to have suffered any significant damage to his head after a hard fall in Tuesday's contest. However, the rookie guard will likely be forced to sit out the remainder of the campaign due to his broken right wrist, allowing Vince Williams, John Konchar, Luke Kennard and GG Jackson to compete for increased playing time. Wells will end the 2024-25 regular season averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 25.9 minutes across 79 appearances, including 74 starts.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Exits game after scary fall Tuesday
Wells was taken back to the locker room on a stretcher after sustaining an apparent head injury in the second quarter of Tuesday's game against the Hornets, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Wells was undercut on a dunk, and a stretcher was called immediately after the hard fall. The rookie can presumably be ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday's contest, and he'll finish the game with three points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 11 minutes. The club will likely provide further details on Wells' status by Wednesday night, and while he's sidelined, Santi Aldama and Vince Williams are candidates for an uptick in playing time.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Scores 13 points Thursday
Wells supplied 13 points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT) and five rebounds over 28 minutes during Thursday's 125-104 loss to the Thunder.
Wells' numbers have been trending in the wrong direction in recent weeks, and while he's scored in double digits in three of his last five outings, he hasn't cleared the 15-point mark since March 1. The first-year player seems to have hit a rookie wall, as he's averaging a mere 7.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game despite starting each of Memphis' 14 contests in March.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Productive in loss
Wells supplied 14 points (4-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Monday's 132-122 loss to Sacramento.
Wells continues to play a significant role for the Grizzlies on the wings, and he took advantage of some extra usage due to Ja Morant (hamstring) and Santi Aldama (calf) being on the shelf. Wells has been cold in recent games, however, but this was a step in the right direction. Over his last five games, Wells hit 29.3 percent from the field with 6.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 three-pointers.
