Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Productive in spot start
Daniels finished with 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), a rebound, three assists and two steals across 22 minutes in Tuesday's 131-130 preseason win over the Pacers.
Daniels got the start alongside Trae Young in the backcourt since Bogdan Bogdanovic was rested. The former Pelicans guard did a solid job on both ends of the court. That said, Daniels is expected to open the regular season with a bench role, which should limit his upside considerably regardless of how he looks in preseason.

Daniels tallied 11 points (4-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-3 FT), eight assists, six rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes for Australia during Friday's 77-71 loss to Greece in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Daniels shot the ball efficiently from the field and led Australia in assists during Friday's loss. While Daniels is expected to be a backup option in Atlanta's frontcourt after being traded from New Orleans, the 21-year-old guard continues to feature heavily for his national team.

Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Dealt to Atlanta
The Hawks acquired Daniels, Larry Nance and two future first-round picks from the Pelicans on Friday in exchange for Dejounte Murray, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
As expected, the Hawks have dealt one of their two backcourt starters, and they will now shift to a younger look after selecting Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It's easy to forget Daniels was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in 2022, as he struggled to find consistent minutes due to injury and an influx of win-now talent on New Orleans' roster. Daniels, listed at 6-foot-7 and 199 pounds, is a versatile on-ball defender who can disrupt players across the board. On offense, he's shown playmaking upside, but he struggles shooting the ball. It's not a perfect fit next to Trae Young, but he's the right player to take a chance on during a soft rebuild.

Pelicans' Dyson Daniels: Dealing with left knee soreness
Daniels is questionable to play Tuesday versus Portland due to left knee soreness.
Daniels' diagnosis of left knee soreness is notable context after the 21-year-old was sidelined for the majority of February and March following meniscus surgery on his left knee. The Pelicans could proceed with caution in his workload, so Daniels' status needs be monitored.

Notably, Naji Marshall (shoulder) is unavailable Sunday, vacating the 20.7 minutes he has averaged over his past six appearances.

Pelicans' Dyson Daniels: Strong effort in loss, ejected late
Daniels provided 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-5 3Pt), two rebounds, three assists and two steals over 21 minutes before getting ejected from Wednesday's 117-108 loss to the Magic.
Daniels came up just one point shy of his season high. He's played well since returning from a 21-game absence. In his last three appearances, he's averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 19.0 minutes. He should continue to see elevated minutes and usage while Brandon Ingram (knee) is sidelined. Daniels, along with Herbert Jones and Trey Murphy, were ejected with seven seconds left to go in the loss after arguing with an official.
