Yankees' Cody Poteet: Doing well through four rehab games
Poteet (triceps) has posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB over 12 innings through four minor-league rehab appearances.
Poteet's first three rehab outings came with Double-A Somerset before he transitioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for his most recent appearance Sept. 5. The righty reliever's longest outing thus far has been 3.2 frames, and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has said that the team sees Poteet as a potential depth piece down the stretch. While Poteet appears to be sufficiently ramped up for a return, it's not yet clear when the Yankees plan to activate him.

Poteet (tricep) threw 25 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Poteet has now faced hitters on two occasions as he looks to return from the right tricep strain that has kept him on the shelf since mid-June. The righty reliever is on the 60-day injured list and is eligible to be activated Aug. 17, but he's likely tracking toward a return at some point after that, as he'll need to pitch in at least a couple minor-league contests beforehand. Assuming he doesn't have any setbacks, a return to the Yankees by the end of August seems probable, but he'll likely have to settle for a bullpen role after previously starting in all four of his appearances for the big club.

The Yankees transferred Poteet (triceps) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.
A right tricep strain has kept Poteet on the injured list since mid-June, and his move to the 60-day injured list will ensure he remains out until at least Aug. 17. The 30-year-old righty began throwing bullpen sessions last week, though it remains unclear how close he is to facing live hitters and eventually beginning a rehab assignment. His spot on the 40-man roster will be given to Nick Burdi, who was reinstated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Poteet had not been cleared to throw full bullpen sessions as of Monday, though he seems to have turned a corner in his rehab and is now slated to throw roughly 20-to-25 pitches in what will be his second mound session. Poteet (3-0) earned the win over Kansas City on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two batters over 5.1 innings.
Poteet was staked to a 6-0 lead after one inning and cruised through five scoreless frames before the Royals scored their first two runs in the sixth. The right-hander had plenty of cushion at that point and ended up with his third victory across four starts. Yankees' Cody Poteet: Inefficient in no-decision
Poteet came away with a no-decision in Friday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Dodgers, allowing two hits and three walks over 4.2 scoreless innings. He struck out one.
The 29-year-old right-hander kept a dangerous offense off the board, but he needed 84 pitches (50 strikes) to record only 14 outs, and the Yankees' bullpen eventually faltered in the 11th inning.
