Top Brandyn Garcia News

  • Mariners' Brandyn Garcia: Bullpen candidate in 2025

The Mariners project Garcia to help them out of the bullpen next season, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.

Garcia, 24, was used as a starter in 2024 between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas, producing a 2.25 ERA and 134:47 K:BB over 116 innings. The lefty pitched in relief during his final year of college and first year in pro ball, and it sounds as if the Mariners plan to break him in as a member of their bullpen at the major-league level.

  • Mariners' Brandyn Garcia: Good showing for Travelers

Garcia logged a 2.83 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB in 47.2 innings across 13 starts for Double-A Arkansas this season.

Garcia has a few obvious things going for him, in that he's a lefty in a good developmental organization for pitching prospects with a pitcher-friendly big-league park. His stuff is decent enough to potentially profile in the middle of the rotation, but his command is iffy and he walked 10.1 percent of batters at Double-A as a 24-year-old. Garcia was lights out earlier in the year against younger hitters at High-A, logging a 1.84 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 85 strikeouts and a 59.5 percent groundball rate in 68.1 innings.
