Pena went 3-for-6 with a stolen base, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Reds.
Pena smacked an RBI single and double in the fifth and ninth innings, respectively, for his ninth multi-hit game of the season, and he was one of four Astros batters to record two RBI. Pena has reached base safely in 12 of his last 13 games, and over that span he has slashed .357/.390/.536 with two home runs, seven runs and 11 RBI.

Pena went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Brewers.
The big blow from the shortstop was a three-run blast in the sixth inning off Elvin Rodriguez, Pena's fifth long ball of the season. After a sluggish start to the season at the plate, Pena has hit safely in 24 of the last 26 games, boosting his slash line on the season to .279/.340/.434 with five steals, 16 RBI and 19 runs.

It was the fourth straight game batting in the leadoff spot for Pena, and he's excelled in the role by going 8-for-17 with two doubles, a homer, four RBI and three runs. Pena led off Sunday, though that came against a lefty and with Jose Altuve on the bench. It was more noteworthy that he was in the same spot Monday, with Altuve hitting second in the order. Pena may not have the same run-scoring fantasy upside as he would with a higher spot in the lineup, but his hot hitting could help him work his way up the batting order.

Pena got the scoring started in the fifth inning when he took Griffin Canning deep for a 363-foot solo homer to left field. Pena is looking to build off a solid 2024 campaign in which he slashed .266/.308/.394 with 20 stolen bases, 15 home runs and 70 RBI across 650 plate appearances. Pena and the Astros will enjoy a team day off Sunday before starting up a three-game home series against the Giants on Monday.

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Working on patience at plate
Pena has focused on being more selective with his swings this spring, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Pena adjusted his swing in preparation for the 2024 season, and this year, his focus has been laying off bad pitches in live batting practice. Across 1,842 career plate appearances, Pena has only a 4.9 percent walk rate but has still managed exactly a 100 wRC+. Despite this report, it is worth noting that Pena has not drawn a walk across 10 plate appearances in Grapefruit League action.

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Set to make $4.1 million
Pena agreed to a one-year, $4.1 million contract with the Astros to avoid arbitration Thursday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Pena will receive a nice raise in his first year of arbitration eligibility after serving as Houston's primary shortstop since making his debut in 2022. The 27-year-old posted 15 home runs and 20 stolen bases with a .266/.308/.394 slash line over 157 games in the 2024 regular season.
