Athletics' Jack O'Loughlin: Heading back to minors
The Athletics optioned O'Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
Though he was called up from Las Vegas on June 25, O'Loughlin went unused out of the bullpen until the Athletics' 19-8 win over the Orioles on Saturday, when he gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.2 innings while mopping up. The Athletics activated Kyle Muller (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to replace O'Loughlin in the bullpen.

Athletics' Jack O'Loughlin: Back in big leagues
The Athletics recalled O'Loughlin from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The A's sent O'Loughlin to the minors June 9 after he had thrown seven shutout innings across three appearances out of the bullpen. He has since started two Triple-A games, allowing six earned runs in just 7.2 frames. He'll likely return to a multi-inning relief role while in Oakland, taking the place of Aaron Brooks on the MLB roster.

Athletics' Jack O'Loughlin: Sent out to Triple-A
The Athletics optioned O'Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
The 24-year-old southpaw received his first big-league call-up May 25 and tossed seven shutout innings over his three appearances out of the Oakland bullpen. After covering 3.1 frames in relief in Saturday's 7-0 loss to the Blue Jays, O'Loughlin wasn't expected to be available for at least the next couple of the days, so Oakland will swap him out of its bullpen for right-hander Michel Otanez, whose contract was selected from Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Athletics' Jack O'Loughlin: Moves up to big leagues
The Athletics selected O'Loughlin's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
O'Loughlin signed a minor-league deal with the A's during the offseason, and he has put up a 5.12 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 38.2 innings in Triple-A. Despite his poor performance, he'll join the big-league roster to provide a fresh arm to Oakland's pitching staff -- likely as a multi-inning reliever.
