Jeffers will serve as the Twins' designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Royals.
With Carlos Santana (illness) sitting out, Jeffers will be included in the lineup for the fifth time in six games. X-rays on Jeffers' injured right hand were negative, MLB.com reports. He did not play in Saturday's game after being removed late in Friday's game due to the injury. "He was having a little trouble gripping the bat downstairs, so we got him out of the game," manager Rocco Baldelli said. "That was why he came out. But he should be OK going forward."
Jeffers was lifted for a pinch hitter in the ninth inning of Friday's loss to St. Louis due to a sore hand. He took balls off his hand twice while behind the plate but was able to continue playing defense. It sounds like he could return to the lineup Sunday, but he may need another day or two off.

Jeffers was pinch hit for in the ninth inning of Friday's loss to St. Louis due to a sore hand, Patrick Borzi of MinnPost.com reports. Jeffers went 2-for-3 with a run scored before departing.
Jeffers took balls off his hand twice while behind the plate but was able to continue playing defense. He couldn't grip a bat later in the game, however. It's not clear if Jeffers will undergo testing, but he already wasn't set to catch Saturday. Should he need additional time off, Christian Vazquez would step into a bigger workload.

Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Padres.
Jeffers had one of two extra-base hits for the Twins, with his being a big blast in the fourth to put his team ahead 2-1. Jeffers now has a home run and a combined six RBI over his last three starts. Tuesday's homer brought him up to 20 for the season which extends his career high. His .785 OPS ranks fourth among all catchers. Jeffers remains locked into a fairly even timeshare behind the dish with Christian Vazquez, but 20 starts at DH have padded his playing time, and he continues to make the most of his opportunities. For the year, he's slashing .233/.313/.472 with 38 extra-base hits, 59 RBI, 46 runs, three steals and a 26:75 BB:K in 372 plate appearances.

That constitutes a warm spell for Jeffers, and it's come at a good time, as fellow catcher Christian Vazquez entered Sunday on an eight-game hitting streak before snapping it with a strikeout as a pinch hitter. The Twins continue to evenly split the playing time for their catchers.
