Jeffers went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.
Jeffers notched his second three-hit game in as many starts, which included a two-run homer in the eighth to push the Twins ahead 4-0. The runs batted in were his first since June 24. He's now up to a .246/.342/.400 slash line with seven homers, 32 RBI, 28 runs and a 31:50 BB:K in 275 plate appearances this season.

Jeffers' absence from the lineup comes as little surprise after he was removed from Tuesday's 6-5 loss when he was struck in his throwing hand by a foul ball. Fortunately for Jeffers, he was diagnosed with a bruise after X-rays on his hand returned negative, so the Twins are viewing him as day-to-day and are optimistic he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. Christian Vazquez will draw the start behind the plate Wednesday after he came on to replace Jeffers on Tuesday.

X-rays on Jeffers' right hand revealed no structural damage after he exited Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Reds upon getting struck on his right hand by a foul ball in the fifth inning, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Jeffers has been diagnosed with a contusion and is considered day-to-day. Christian Vazquez replaced him behind the plate Tuesday and is likely to start Wednesday, but Jeffers isn't expected to be out of the lineup for long.

Jeffers exited Tuesday's contest against the Reds in the top of the fifth inning with a hand/arm injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Jeffers took a ball off his hand/arm while behind the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning and was ultimately forced to leave the game before his at-bat in the top of the fifth.
