Chivilli (1-3) allowed four earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one across two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals.
Chivilli has experienced plenty of success during his first sample in the majors, as he had a 1.96 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 22:8 K:BB across his last 22 appearances entering Tuesday's contest. His implosion was untimely, however, with the Rockies trying to find a closer with Tyler Kinley (elbow) sidelined. Chivilli was used in the eighth inning of a tie game, which suggest he'll stick in a setup role for the final week of the season.

Tyler Kinley began the frame and imploded to allow four earned runs, but Chivilli still had the chance to close the door on the win. Instead, he served up a three-run home run to Jesus Sanchez. Since being recalled to the majors Aug. 1, Chivilli has maintained a 2.77 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with an 11:3 K:BB across 13 frames and has quickly found himself in a high-leverage role.
