  • Blue Jays' Nick Raposo: Claimed by Jays

The Blue Jays claimed Raposo off waivers from the Cardinals on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

He was cast off St. Louis' 40-man roster Monday to help clear space for trade additions Erick Fedde and Tommy Pham, and Raposo will now get another opportunity with the Blue Jays. He'll remain in the minors upon joining his new organization, though he will reclaim a 40-man roster spot and would likely join the big-league squad if Alejandro Kirk (elbow) or Brian Serven were to miss any time.

  • Cardinals' Nick Raposo: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Cardinals designated Raposo for assignment Monday.

Raposo was moved off the 40-man roster after the Cardinals needed to open up spots for the new trade pickups Erick Fedde and Tommy Pham, who were acquired Monday in a three-team deal that also involved the Dodgers. The 26-year-old catcher was up with St. Louis earlier this season but didn't make his MLB debut. He's slashed .193/.251/.349 with seven home runs over 208 plate appearances at Triple-A Memphis in 2024.

  • Cardinals' Nick Raposo: Sent down to minors

The Cardinals optioned Raposo to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Raposo was up with the big club as depth at catcher after Ivan Herrera (back) joined Willson Contreras (forearm) on the injured list Saturday. However, with Contreras getting activated Monday, Raposo will head back to Memphis while Pedro Pages sticks around as the No. 2 backstop behind Contreras.

  • Cardinals' Nick Raposo: Selected from Memphis

The Cardinals selected Raposo's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.

With Ivan Herrera (back) headed to the injured list, the Cardinals will call upon Raposo to give them additional depth behind the plate. The 26-year-old backstop has slashed just .187/.241/.323 through 167 plate appearances in the minors and is unlikely to see much playing time behind Pedro Pages while Herrera is out. Keynan Middleton (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
