Anthony has been limited to designated-hitter duty at Triple-A Worcester of late due to minor right shoulder soreness, Chris Henrique of Beyond the Monster reports.
Anthony has been used exclusively at DH since April 11 and is set to be the DH again during Worcester's day/night doubleheader Thursday. The shoulder issue has not affected Anthony at the plate, as he's gone 7-for-12 with a 1:3 K:BB in three games at DH. It's not clear when Anthony -- who is slashing .283/.441/.500 with two homers overall this season -- might be ready to play the outfield again.

Anthony went 2-for-3 with two walks, two home runs, three RBI and two additional runs scored for Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.
Anthony turned on a cutter in sixth inning, depositing his first home run over the fence in right field, then went the other way in the eighth on a sinker for his second blast. In addition to the raw power, Anthony showed off another of his best traits: good swing decisions. Across five plate appearances, he swung at just one pitch outside the zone, working a pair of walks for the second consecutive game.

The Red Sox plan to assign Anthony to Triple-A Worcester prior to Thursday's season opener versus the Rangers, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.
Though Boston has yet to make any formal transaction with Anthony after he took part in big-league camp and posted a .715 OPS in Grapefruit League play, the 20-year-old's chances of making the Opening Day roster likely evaporated after Wilyer Abreu was able to overcome a gastrointestinal issue before the end of spring training. Anthony will thus head back to Triple-A, but he might not have to wait long to make his MLB debut if he continues to mash at Worcester like he did following his promotion from Double-A Portland last August. Over his 164 plate appearances with Worcester to close out the 2024 minor-league season, Anthony slashed .344/.463/.519 with three home runs and five stolen bases.
Anthony batted leadoff and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's Spring Breakout game against Rays prospects.
Anthony had been on the shelf for a week-and-a-half due to an illness but returned to Grapefruit League action on Wednesday. The 20-year-old announced his presence Thursday as one of three top Boston prospects to go deep -- Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell also homered. With Wilyer Abreu (illness) looking like he won't be ready for Opening Day, Anthony has a real chance to start the regular season on the major-league roster.

Anthony will make his return to the spring lineup for the first time since March 2, after a bout with an illness kept him out for more than a week while also resulting in him losing about 10 pounds. The 20-year-old outfield prospect might have been facing an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster had he stayed healthy throughout the spring, and the missed time due to the illness makes it even more likely that he'll begin the season at Triple-A Worcester. Anthony shouldn't need much more time in the minors before making his MLB debut, as he slashed a blistering .344/.463/.519 with a 19.1 percent walk rate and 19.5 percent strikeout rate in 164 plate appearances for Worcester after getting a promotion from Double-A Portland last August.

The Red Sox are expected to have an opening in right field with Wilyer Abreu slated to miss at least the first week or so of the season with a gastrointestinal issue. However, Anthony is coming back from an illness of his own, one which resulted in him losing about 10 pounds. The top prospect has resumed workouts, but it's not clear when he'll be ready to return to game action. Anthony has a good chance to become a regular for the Red Sox at some point this season, but it appears highly likely that will come down the line during the 2025 campaign.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Friday that he expects Anthony (illness) to resume workouts Saturday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Anthony hasn't played in a Grapefruit League game since March 2, as he's one of a handful of Red Sox players to come down with the flu. He appears to be on the mend, but it could be a few more days before he's back in game action. Anthony is a candidate to play right field for Boston with Wilyer Abreu (illness) expected to begin the season on the injured list, but the top prospect will need to get back up to speed himself first.
