Angels' Zach Neto: Nabs two thefts in loss
Neto went 0-for-2 with a walk, two runs and two stolen bases in a loss to Texas on Saturday.
Neto didn't log any hits, but he still made an impact. The shortstop was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored in the first inning and added a walk, another steal and another run in the sixth. Neto is up to 29 stolen bases on the campaign -- with one more he can become the sixth MLB player with at least 20 home runs and 30 thefts so far this season.

Neto has four steals over his last eight games despite going a paltry 5-for-27 (.185) in that span. Tuesday's effort was his first multi-hit game since Aug. 20. The shortstop is at a .252/.319/.446 slash line with 20 home runs, 26 steals, 66 RBI and 60 runs scored over 134 contests this season.

Neto manufactured the Angels' second run after getting plunked in the first inning, as he stole second and third before scoring on a Nolan Schanuel sacrifice fly. Consistency has eluded Neto in August -- he's hitting .240 (24-for-100) with seven home runs, 19 RBI and six steals over 26 contests this month. Overall, the second-year shortstop has a well-rounded .252/.317/.450 slash line with 20 home runs, 25 steals, 66 RBI, 59 runs scored and 28 doubles across 131 games.

Angels' Zach Neto: Reaches 20-20 mark
Neto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Tigers.
Neto took Keider Montero deep in the fifth inning for this 20th homer this season. Neto became the ninth player this season to eclipse 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. The 23-year-old joined Jim Fregosi, who hit 22 homers in 1970, as the only Angels shortstops with 20 home runs in a season in franchise history. Neto posted a .685 OPS as a rookie last season but has come on strong in his sophomore campaign with a .254/.318/.453 slash line through 130 games.

Neto's impressive August continued with his sixth homer in 17 contests this month. He's also batting .299 (20-for-67) with 16 RBI and 11 runs scored in that span. The shortstop is up to a .262/.327/.466 slash line with 19 homers, 63 RBI, 57 runs scored, 22 stolen bases and 27 doubles across 122 games this season. While the Angels' lineup isn't anything special, Neto should continue to provide well-rounded production out of the No. 2 spot in the order as he has since Luis Rengifo (wrist) exited the lineup Aug. 3.

Angels' Zach Neto: Hits homer in loss
Neto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Royals.
Neto brought the Angels to within two runs with his eighth-inning solo blast, but that was the final score tallied by either team. The shortstop went on a seven-game heater earlier in the month during which he batted .448 with four homers and 14 RBI, but he's cooled off since then with a .179 average and one homer along with 12 strikeouts over his subsequent seven contests. Overall, Neto is slashing .261/.325/.459 with 18 long balls, 62 RBI, 55 runs and 22 stolen bases over 121 contests on the campaign.

The 23-year-old's trip to the bench will end a run of 30 straight starts, during which he slashed .343/.442/.608 with seven doubles, six homers, eight steals, 22 RBI and 21 runs. Luis Guillorme will start at shortstop and bat eighth Wednesday while Neto sits.

Over the last seven games, Neto has produced three hits four times and gone hitless in the other three contests in that span. The shortstop is batting .348 (16-for-46) over 12 games in August, and eight of those knocks have gone for extra bases, though all of his hits Tuesday were singles. Neto went 4-for-9 with two homers, a double, eight RBI and a walk across both games of a doubleheader split with the Yankees on Wednesday.
Neto accounted for all of the Angels' scoring in a Game 1 loss with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. He carried the team's offense again in Game 2, slugging a grand slam and a two-run double to rack up six more RBI and set a new single-game career high. Altogether, Neto's eight RBI on the day were as many as he had accumulated over his previous 15 contests combined. The shortstop has been running hot for the past month, batting .342 with five homers, 20 RBI and six stolen bases over his past 23 contests dating back to July 9.

For the season, he's managed a .256/.320/.439 slash line with 14 home runs, 51 RBI, 49 runs scored, 23 doubles and one triple over 109 contests.
