  • Red Sox's Ryan Noda: Shipped to Boston

The Angels traded Noda to the Red Sox on Thursday in exchange for cash.

The Angels designated Noda for assignment Sunday after he started the season at Triple-A Salt Lake with a .634 OPS through 154 plate appearances. He'll reclaim a 40-man roster spot upon joining the Red Sox, who have been looking for an answer at first base with Triston Casas (knee) out for the year and Romy Gonzalez sidelined by a quad injury.

  • Angels' Ryan Noda: Dumped from 40-man roster

The Angels designated Noda for assignment Sunday.

The 29-year-old was unable to earn a spot on the Halos' Opening Day roster and has now lost his place on the 40-man roster. Noda posted a .148/.364/.270 slash line and 34.1 percent strikeout rate in 38 games with Triple-A Salt Lake and will now be exposed to waivers.

  • Angels' Ryan Noda: Dispatched to Salt Lake

The Angels optioned Noda to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Noda batted .182 this spring, but 15 walks in 49 plate appearances helped him finish the Cactus League with an .813 OPS. Despite his display of plate discipline and ability to play first base and the corner outfield, he'll have to work his way back into the majors by maintaining success at the Triple-A level.

  • Angels' Ryan Noda: Heads to Halos via waivers

The Angels claimed Noda off waivers from the Athletics on Friday.

Noda showed some promise in 2023 after the A's plucked him in the Rule 5 Draft, slashing .229/.364/.406 with 16 homers in 128 contests. He couldn't repeat even that level of production in 2024 however, posting just a .465 OPS in 36 games with Oakland while spending most of the year in the minors. Noda will turn 29 in March and could get a chance to compete for playing time at first base, the corner outfield spots and designated hitter.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Optioned to Midland

The Athletics optioned Noda to Double-A Midland on Sunday.

With the Triple-A season ending Sunday, Noda will go to the Athletics' affiliate in Midland, which is in the Double-A playoffs. Noda appeared in five games for the Athletics since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sept. 10, going 1-for-8 with one run scored and two walks over that span.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Sitting against southpaw

Noda is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston.

The left-handed-hitting Noda started at first base in both of the first two games of the series with righties on the mound for the Astros, but he'll take a seat as southpaw Framber Valdez goes to the hill in the finale. Tyler Nevin will play first base and bat seventh for Oakland.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Rejoins major-league club

The Athletics recalled Noda from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Noda had put up a .998 OPS with eight home runs with Las Vegas since the beginning of August. He hit just .128/.242/.198 in 30 games with the Athletics earlier this season but could see ample playing time for them at first base down the stretch.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Starting to heat up in Vegas

Noda is 5-for-13 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI, three walks and four runs over his last four games with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The brief but impressive stretch is in stark contrast to Noda's first eight games following his demotion, when he posted an .083 batting average (2-for-24) without an extra-base hit. The 28-year-old, who limped to a .440 OPS during his 30 games in the majors this season, could soon earn a promotion if he stays hot.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Optioned to Vegas

The Athletics optioned Noda to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Noda's 0-for-3 performance during Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh extended his hitless streak to 28 at-bats across 11 games and gives him a putrid .128 batting average through 83 at-bats on the year. Abraham Toro will likely fill in as Oakland's everyday first baseman while Noda attempts to rediscover his swing in the minors.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Not starting Saturday

Noda is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Noda will begin Saturday's game in the dugout with the Orioles sending out southpaw Cole Irvin. It marks the third game in a row that Noda hasn't started, though he did pinch hit in each of the Athletics' last two games. Abraham Toro will start at first base Saturday and bat fifth.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Not in Friday's lineup

Noda is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Baltimore.

The 28-year-old sat against lefty Nestor Cortes on Thursday and is on the bench again Friday versus righty Corbin Burnes. Tyler Nevin will receive a start at first base as Noda has a .523 OPS through 83 plate appearances this season.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Sitting against lefty

Noda isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Left-hander Nestor Cortes will start on the mound for New York, forcing the lefty-hitting Noda to start Thursday's contest in the dugout. While he sits, Abraham Toro will start at first base with Max Schuemann and Darell Hernaiz covering second and third.

  • Athletics' Ryan Noda: Clocks first homer

Noda went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in a loss to the Guardians on Saturday.

Noda authored the only multi-hit effort of the game for the Athletics, accomplishing the feat for the first time all season in the process. Noda's leadoff round tripper in the fifth inning was also his first time clearing the fences in 2024, and although his slash line still sits at a forgettable .190/.288/.293 through 67 plate appearances, he's now hit safely in three straight contests.
