Reds' Andrew Abbott: Fires shutout in Cleveland
Abbott (6-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over the Guardians, scattering three hits and a walk over nine scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Gabriel Arias got to third base in the second inning after a double and a stolen base, but that was as close as Cleveland got to producing any offense against Abbott. It was the first career shutout for the southpaw, who generated 31 called or swinging strikes among his season-high 110 pitches (77 total strikes), and it continued a dazzling stretch in which he's held the opposition without an earned run in five of eight outings since the beginning of May. Abbott sports a 1.32 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB over 47.2 innings during that span, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Saddled with first loss
Abbott (5-1) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings as the Reds were routed 9-1 by the Brewers. He struck out six.
The southpaw was very sharp for the most part, generating 36 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches (72 total strikes), but a couple offerings caught too much of the plate and got turned into two-run homers by Jackson Chourio in the fifth inning and Daz Cameron in the sixth. It's the first time this season Abbott has served up multiple home runs in a start, and despite the setback he'll take a 2.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 59:19 K:BB through 53.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Cleveland.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Dominant in third straight win
Abbott (5-0) earned the win against the Cubs on Friday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out eight over seven scoreless innings.
Abbott generated 12 whiffs on 93 pitches and retired the final 15 batters he faced, completing seven innings for the first time this season. It was an especially impressive effort considering he just limited the vaunted Cubs lineup to one run Saturday. The southpaw improved to 5-0 on the year and has now yielded only eight earned runs across nine starts. He'll carry a 1.51 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB across 47.2 innings into a home matchup with the Brewers next week.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Improves to 4-0
Abbott (4-0) earned the win against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Abbott allowed a solo homer in the third inning but otherwise kept the Cubs in check despite inducing just five whiffs on 83 pitches. The southpaw has now given up more than one earned run only once in eight starts this year and has completed at least five frames six times. He'll take a stellar 1.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 45:17 K:BB over 40.2 innings into a road rematch with the Cubs next weekend.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Improves to 3-0
Abbott (3-0) yielded four hits and three walks over five shutout innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Guardians.
Abbott kept Cleveland scoreless for five frames but needed to work around some danger, including a bases-loaded threat in the first inning. He tied his season high with 96 pitches and forced 16 swinging strikes, including eight with his fastball. Abbott has allowed fewer than two runs in six of his seven starts this season, resulting in a terrific 1.80 ERA and a 43:15 K:BB through 35 frames. His next matchup is expected to be at home against the Cubs.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Receives no run support
Abbott allowed one run on four hits and no walks while striking out seven in six innings Tuesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
Despite allowing just one run over six innings, Abbott exited on the hook for the loss after the Reds got blanked through eight innings. He posted his second quality start of the year and his fourth start of at least five innings. His command has been stellar of late, as he's posted a 15:0 K:BB in 11 innings over his last two starts. Abbott owns a 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB in 30 innings this season.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Posts five scoreless frames
Abbott tossed five scoreless innings while allowing four hits and no walks Tuesday against Atlanta. He struck out eight and did not factor into the decision.
Abbott was excellent once again and continued what's been a strong start to his delayed debut this season. Outside of a poor start in Colorado, Abbott has only allowed two earned runs in 20 innings, and Tuesday was his first outing of the season with no walks. He now sits at a 2.25 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through five starts and will aim to keep rolling this weekend against the Astros.
