  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Piling up multi-hit performances

Estrada went 2-for-5 with a run scored Sunday against Atlanta. Estrada singled in his final two plate appearances of the game, giving him his third multi-hit effort in his last four starts. His Rockies' debut was delayed until May 30 due to a wrist injury, but he's hit primarily second and cleanup across his 14 starts since. Estrada is hitting a solid .267 in 62 plate appearances, also tallying seven RBI and five runs scored.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Three hits in third game

Estrada went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI during Monday's 6-4 win over the Marlins. In just his third game back since returning to the lineup from a wrist injury, Estrada put on a show, picking up three hits and driving in his second run of the season. There's still some rust to shake off, specifically in the field where the 29-year-old has made two errors already, but the bat getting going is a good sign for Estrada, who should be the Rockies' everyday second baseman moving forward.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Not in Sunday's lineup

Estrada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets. Estrada started the past two games after being reinstated from the injured list Friday, and he'll take a seat Sunday after going 1-for-7 with an RBI and a run in his first two MLB games of 2025. Orlando Arcia will man the keystone while Sam Hilliard enters the lineup in center field for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Collects first hit of 2025

Estrada went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Saturday against the Mets. Estrada was activated from the injured list Friday for his season debut and his RBI single in the seventh inning Saturday marked his first hit of the campaign. Estrada should be Colorado's primary second baseman and looks likely to hit fourth or fifth in the order.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Ready for 2025 MLB debut

The Rockies reinstated Estrada (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Friday. The veteran infielder was sidelined by a fractured wrist late in spring training, but he's ready to make his Rockies debut after going 7-for-23 with a double during a five-game rehab assignment. Estrada should take over as Colorado's primary second baseman after signing a one-year, $3.25 million contract during the offseason.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Ready for rehab assignment

Estrada (wrist) was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment. Estrada has been cleared to play in games after being sidelined all season with a fractured right wrist. The 29-year-old participated in most of spring training before sustaining the injury, but he'll still likely require a fair amount of rehab games to get his timing back at the plate before making his Rockies debut. Once activated from the 60-day injured list, Estrada is likely to become the Rockies' primary second baseman, and his hitter-friendly home venue makes him a worthy roster stash in fantasy leagues where he's available.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Taking batting practice

Estrada (wrist) took batting practice for a third straight day Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Estrada progressed to facing velocity during Tuesday's batting practice as he continues to work his way back from a fractured right wrist. A rehab assignment for Estrada seems to be coming soon, with a return to the Rockies' active roster expected by around June 1.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Resuming on-field drills

Estrada (wrist) has resumed fielding drills and running the bases this week, MLB.com reports. Estrada resumed swinging the bat last weekend as he works toward his Rockies debut after fracturing his wrist late in spring training. He's likely nearing a rehab assignment and should have the chance to be activated by late May or early June.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Ramping up

Estrada (wrist) is able to swing the bat with both hands and is working his way into baseball shape, MLB.com reports. Estrada has been sidelined for the entire season with a wrist injury but has made significant progress in the last week. There's still no timeline for his return, but he should be in line for a rehab assignment within the next couple of weeks.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Begins season on IL

The Rockies placed Estrada (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. After suffering a non-displaced fractured right wrist when he was hit by a pitch in a Cactus League game March 20, Estrada is likely to require 4-to-8 weeks of recovery time. With Estrada on the shelf, Kyle Farmer has started at second base in three of the Rockies' first four games, while Tyler Freeman has manned the keystone in the other contest.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Out with fractured wrist

Estrada was diagnosed with a fractured right wrist Friday and is expected to be sidelined 4-to-8 weeks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The second baseman suffered the injury Wednesday on a hit-by-pitch and will now be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Estrada is scheduled to undergo another set of X-rays in about four weeks, so his absence is likely to run through mid-May, at least. In the meantime, the Rockies plan to give Kyle Farmer significant run at the keystone to begin the season. Prospect Adael Amador might also get a look if he has a quick start to the campaign at Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Returns to lineup Thursday

Estrada (head) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Thursday's Cactus League game versus the Rangers. Estrada last played on Saturday, when he had to be lifted from the game after being struck in the head by Michael Taylor's foot while tagging him out at second base. Estrada didn't suffer any known concussion and is now ready to go after a few days of rest. Estrada will be the Rockies' primary second baseman in 2025.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Removed early Saturday

Estrada was pulled from Saturday's Cactus League game against the White Sox after getting hit in the head, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The second baseman was hit in the head by Michael Taylor's foot while tagging him out at second base in the fourth frame. Estrada was able to finish the half-inning but was replaced by a pinch hitter in the fifth. Manager Bud Black said the incident shook Estrada up quite a bit, but his removal was precautionary, and he likely won't need to miss much time.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Nabs one-year deal with Colorado

The Rockies agreed to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with Estrada on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Estrada slashed only .217/.247/.343 over 96 games for the Giants in 2024 and finished the season off the 40-man roster. However, the 28-year-old infielder hit .266/.319/.408 while averaging 14 home runs and 22 stolen bases from 2022 to 2023. He should slot in at second base for the Rockies and immediately gains some fantasy appeal playing half his games at Coors Field. The deal includes a mutual option for 2026 with a $750,000 buyout.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Giants outrighted Estrada to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Estrada was placed on waivers Wednesday but went unclaimed. The infielder has struggled in 2024, logging a .590 OPS in 381 plate appearances with a .126 ISO. Brett Wisely was recalled from Sacramento to replace Estrada on the active roster.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Placed on waivers

The Giants placed Estrada on waivers Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Estrada has taken a considerable step back at the plate this season, slashing .216/.246/.345 with nine home runs and 46 RBI through 374 plate appearances. Due to his poor performance, the Giants have now made him available for any other team willing to pay the remainder of the $4.7 million contract he signed with San Francisco during the offseason. He is still eligible to play while on waivers.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: One hit in return

Estrada (wrist) went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's 5-3 win over the White Sox. Estrada was part of the Giants' fifth-inning rally, scoring the team's first run on a Curt Casali single. This was Estrada's first game since July 25 after he missed time with a left wrist sprain. He should resume a role as the Giants' primary second baseman, as Casey Schmitt is hitting just .176 in August. Estrada has a poor .216/.249/.351 slash line with nine home runs, 43 RBI, 42 runs scored, one stolen base and 14 doubles over 88 contests this year.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Reinstated from injured list

The Giants activated Estrada (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Estrada missed the last three-plus weeks with a left wrist sprain but is ready to go after a five-game rehab stint which saw him go 9-for-21 with one home run. He's starting at second base and batting eighth Monday versus the White Sox in his return to action. Brett Wisely was sent down to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Begins rehab assignment

Estrada (wrist) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a hit-by-pitch in his first rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Estrada has been shelved for nearly three weeks with a sprained left wrist but is almost ready to rejoin the Giants' active roster. Because he hasn't missed much time, Estrada would appear likely to be activated for the weekend series in Oakland which begins Saturday. Once he's back, Estrada should see the bulk of the reps at second base for San Francisco.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Lands on IL

The Giants placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a sprained left wrist. Estrada landed on the injured list in late June due to a left wrist sprain, and the same injury will now force him back onto the IL roughly one month later. He was able to return to the active roster after 11 days following his previous IL stint, though it's unclear if he'll require a longer absence this time around. Casey Schmitt was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to provide infield depth, and he'll likely split reps at second base with Brett Wisely until Estrada returns.
