Tigers' Colt Keith: Moving to first base
Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Friday that Keith will move to first base next season, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The newly signed Gleyber Torres will take over as the Tigers' second baseman, shifting Keith over to the cold corner. Keith has never played first base in pro ball, but he's been working out there this offseason and the Tigers don't seem to have any concerns about his ability to adapt to the position. With Keith now at first base at least against righties, Spencer Torkelson's role on Detroit's roster looks unclear.

Tigers' Colt Keith: Getting work at first base
Detroit has asked Keith to take grounders at first base this spring, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
This doesn't necessarily mean that Keith will see time during the 2025 campaign at first base, but if he fares well enough at first during the spring, it would give the Tigers more infield flexibility. Justyn-Henry Malloy was also asked to try his hand at first base, so the general focus around the organization appears to be increasing the number of potential infield combinations.

Tigers' Colt Keith: Triples, drives in two in win
Keith went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rays.
Keith plated Detroit's first run of the game on his sixth-inning triple as the Tigers came back from a 3-0 deficit and got one step closer to the playoffs. The rookie has played a key role in his team's resurgence, as he's batting .282 across 20 games in September. Only three of his 20 hits during that stretch have gone for extra bases though, leaving him with a middling .682 OPS for the month.

The 23-year-old sat out Wednesday against the Royals after he suffered a shoulder injury during Tuesday's contest, but he's back in the lineup following Thursday's team off day. Keith is hitting .315 through 14 games in September, though he hasn't supplied a ton of pop with just two extra-base hits.
