Manager Aaron Boone said Wells, who is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers, had X-rays on his hand come back negative, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
The 25-year-old is dealing with some soreness after being hit by a pitch in Monday's contest, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. The Yankees have a team day off Thursday, so the club could keep Wells on the bench again Wednesday to provide him three straight days to recover from the injury.

The Yankees backstop extended his team's lead to 4-2 when he launched a 399-foot, two-run homer off Erick Fedde in the third inning. Wells later cracked another two-run homer in the eighth inning, launching it 413 feet off reliever Riley O'Brien to secure his first career multi-homer game.
