Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Back in lineup in left field
Alvarez (neck) will start in left field and bat second in Monday's game against the Phillies, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Alvarez was on the bench for each of the Astros' last three games due to neck discomfort, but the team's willingness to use him in the outfield rather than at designated hitter Monday implies confidence in his health moving forward. He'll put an 18-game on-base streak on the line as he draws back into the lineup Monday. During that stretch, Alvarez has slashed .364/.475/.652 with five home runs and 12 walks against 10 strikeouts.

Mauricio Dubon, Chas McCormick and Ben Gamel will start across the outfield Sunday while Yainer Diaz serves as the designated hitter.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Scratched with neck issue
Alvarez was scratched from the Astros' lineup ahead of Friday's game versus Baltimore due to neck discomfort, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The severity of Alvarez's injury remains unknown, but it is apparently enough to keep him out of Friday's series opener. While he takes a day to recover, Alex Bregman will serve as Houston's designated hitter, with Shay Whitcomb starting at third base.
