Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Remains in organization
The Tigers outrighted Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Baddoo cleared waivers after being booted off the 40-man roster and has accepted an outright assignment rather than testing free agency. The outfielder is a career .224/.305/.369 hitter across parts of five major-league seasons.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Dumped from 40-man roster
The Tigers designated Baddoo for assignment on Friday.
The 27-year-old was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in late May and has now lost his place on Detroit's 40-man roster. Baddoo had a .778 OPS in 30 games with Toledo but went 2-for-17 during his brief time with the big-league club.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Optioned to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo following Friday's game against the Guardians.
Baddoo was called up to the majors May 14 and appeared in seven games for the Tigers, going 2-for-17 with one steal and an RBI over that span. He'll head back to Triple-A and could receive another promotion should Detroit be in need of depth in the outfield. The move makes room on the 26-man roster for Casey Mize (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Retreating to bench Wednesday
Baddoo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Baddoo had picked up starts in left field in each of the Tigers' last three games, going 2-for-9 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI. He'll hit the bench Wednesday and could soon be at risk of finding himself off the roster entirely, as fellow outfielders Matt Vierling (shoulder), Parker Meadows (arm) and Wenceel Perez (back) are in the midst of rehab assignments.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Added to roster
The Tigers selected Baddoo's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Baddoo was cast off the 40-man roster over the offseason but has made his way back to the majors after collecting an .820 OPS with six home runs and four stolen bases in 21 games at Toledo. He'll start in right field and bat ninth in Wednesday's series finale against the Red Sox, but expect Baddoo to serve mainly as a fourth outfielder while he's up with the big club.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Healthy again at Triple-A
Baddoo (hand) is slashing .247/.329/.479 with five home runs and four stolen bases across 82 plate appearances since being activated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list April 15.
Baddoo missed the first couple weeks of the season as he completed his recovery from late February surgery to address a hamate bone fracture in his right hand, but he's reclaimed a regular spot in the Toledo outfield. The 26-year-old has seen big-league action in each of the previous four seasons, but he'll face an uphill battle to make it back to Detroit in 2025 now that he's no longer a member of the 40-man roster.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Starting rehab assignment
Baddoo (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Baddoo underwent surgery in late February to address a hamate bone fracture in his right hand but has finally been cleared to play in games. Given how much time he's missed, Baddoo is going to need some time to knock off the rust, but he is expected to eventually move up to Triple-A Toledo. While Baddoo is no longer on the Tigers' 40-man roster, he could eventually get another look in the majors if injuries persist in the Detroit outfield.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Undergoes hamate bone surgery
Baddoo underwent surgery Thursday to address a hamate bone fracture in his right hand, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
His recovery timeline figures to extend past Opening Day and will likely cost him the first month or so of the season. Baddoo was removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster earlier this offseason and is ticketed for Triple-A Toledo once healthy.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Stays with Tigers
Baddoo cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Baddoo will remain within the Tigers organization after being designated for assignment Dec. 10. 2024 was the outfielder's worst season yet in the majors, recording a .521 OPS and just five RBI across 82 plate appearances. The 26-year-old may factor to be a four-A player as he has posted a .802 OPS in 123 games for Triple-A Toledo since the 2022 season.

Tigers' Akil Baddoo: Pushed off 40-man
The Tigers designated Baddoo for assignment Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
With the signing of Alex Cobb becoming official Tuesday, the Tigers needed to create room on their 40-man roster, so Baddoo will end up as the roster casualty. Baddoo slashed just .137/.220/.301 in 31 big-league games last season, though his .758 OPS and 29 stolen bases in Triple-A could be enough to attract attention from another organization.
