Diamondbacks' Seth Brown: Inks minor-league deal with Arizona
The Diamondbacks signed Brown (elbow) to a minor-league contract Friday.
Brown was released by the Athletics on June 26, but after weighing his options on the open market, he's settled on a new landing spot. The veteran outfielder posted a woeful .565 OPS with only one home run and three RBI over 38 big-league games before being let go, though he batted .500 (21-for-42) with seven home runs in just nine contests in the minors following a late-May demotion to Triple-A. Brown had been on the major-league 10-day injured list due to a left elbow injury at the time of his release, but his decision to sign with Arizona suggests that he's healthy again.

Seth Brown: Becomes free agent
Brown (elbow) was waived by the Athletics on Wednesday and elected free agency Thursday, Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors reports.
Brown is dealing with a left elbow injury and hasn't played since June 11. The veteran outfielder has struggled mightily in the majors this season, slashing .185/.303/.262 with one homer, three RBI and one stolen base over 76 plate appearances, though he's crushed Triple-A pitching to the tune of a 1.583 OPS with seven home runs across nine contests. The Athletics elected to waive Brown on Wednesday, and he has enough MLB service time to have the right to choose to become a free agent. The next team Brown plays for will be new to him, as he was drafted by the Athletics in 2015 and spent his entire MLB career in the organization.

Athletics' Seth Brown: Placed on injured list
The Athletics placed Brown on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to left elbow lateral epicondylitis.
More commonly known as "tennis elbow," Brown's injury has kept him sidelined for the Athletics' past four games and will officially cost him at least another week. He'll be replaced on the active roster by Gio Urshela (hamstring), who was activated off the injured list Tuesday.

Brown went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 6-1 win over Miami.
The double was Brown's first extra-base hit since April 24, when he also doubled, and he submitted his first multi-hit game of the campaign. The outfielder's playing time has been sporadic -- Friday marked his first start in his last six appearances -- but he's been effective at the plate when given the opportunity. Over his last 10 outings, Brown is batting .333 (4-for-12) with one home run, two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored.

Brown went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Sunday's 14-1 loss to the Brewers.
Brown provided the only tally on the scoreboard for the A's, launching a solo home run off Logan Henderson in the top of the fifth inning. Brown posted the only multi-hit effort of the afternoon for the Athletics in the season finale, his first performance with a pair of knocks since Sept. 6. The productive afternoon prevented him from heading into the offseason mired in a slump, as he'd gone just 2-for-24 over the prior seven games. The 2024 campaign was essentially a tale of two seasons for Brown -- he earned himself a mid-June outright assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas by posting a .189 average, .557 OPS and 33.8 percent strikeout rate over his first 63 games, but he generated a .271 average and .760 OPS across 61 games upon returning shortly before the All-Star break, striking out at a more modest 22.4 percent clip in the process.
