  • Twins' Ty France: Losing starts to Clemens

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

For the second day in a row, France will head to the bench against a righty starter in Drew Rasmussen. The Twins haven't indicated that France is dealing with an injury, so he could simply be moving into the short side of a platoon at first base with the left-handed-hitting Kody Clemens. Since his six-game hitting streak came to an end June 7, France is slashing a woeful .209/.269/.337 with two home runs, 10 runs and nine RBI over 26 games.

  • Twins' Ty France: Exiting starting nine Wednesday

France is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

France has served as the Twins' everyday first baseman throughout the season, but his stranglehold on that role could be slipping a bit. He'll hit the bench for the second time in the five games while he's slashed just .185/.241/.315 over a stretch of 14 contests dating back to June 14. Kody Clemens will step in for France at first base and will bat eighth.

France went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Astros.

The first baseman got hold of a Steven Okert slider in the ninth inning, on a night when all of Minnesota's offense came on solo homers. It was France's fifth long ball of the year and his first since May 23, ending an 18-game drought, but he stayed productive despite the lack of power by batting .338 (23-for-68) with nine runs and 10 RBI during that stretch.

  • Twins' Ty France: Idle for Thursday's game

France (foot) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

On Wednesday, France exited in the fifth inning of the Twins' 6-3 win in the first game of a doubleheader due to a left foot contusion, then was withheld from action in the 8-6 win over the Orioles later on that day. The Twins are continuing to view France as day-to-day, but he'll miss out on a second straight start as the team wraps up its series in Baltimore. Kody Clemens will fill in for France at first base.

  • Twins' Ty France: Exits game with foot contusion

France was removed during the fifth inning of the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore with a left foot contusion, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. He went 0-for-3 at the plate prior to his departure.

France grounded out in the top of the fifth inning before being replaced on defense prior to the bottom of the frame. The Twins could have more information on France's status in between games, but France will likely sit out the second leg of the twin bill, at the very least.

France has been on a tear over the past four games with three multi-hit performances, and he's gone 8-for-16 with three doubles and a home run during that stretch.
