Nimmo posted a .544 OPS while starting the previous 13 games, and he'll receive a maintenance day Tuesday as lefty MacKenzie Gore takes the mound for the Nationals. Harrison Bader will start in center field and bat eighth.

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Smacks three-run homer
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk in Friday's 11-3 victory over Philadelphia.
Nimmo broke the game open in the Mets' big fifth inning, launching a three-run shot off Aaron Nola to extend New York's lead to 6-0. The homer was Nimmo's first in nearly a month -- he'd gone 15-for-72 (.208) with a .543 OPS in his previous 20 contests. The 31-year-old outfielder is now slashing .226/.337/.396 through 603 plate appearances this year with 19 homers, a career-best 78 RBI, 79 runs scored and 13 steals.

The steal was his career-high 12th of the season but first since Aug. 2, snapping a 20-game drought on the basepaths. Nimmo is slashing just .226/.305/.381 on the month with two homers, two stolen bases, seven RBI and 10 runs in 22 contests.

Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Nimmo led the Mets with three hits Tuesday, though he only crossed the plate once and couldn't drive in any runs on a night when the Mets scored eight. It was Nimmo's first three-hit effort since the very beginning of the month, and he's gone without an RBI over his last five games. Nimmo has driven in a career-best 72 runs this year but his batting average is down significantly compared to the last few seasons. For the year, he's slashing .230/.341/.410 with 18 homers, 72 runs scored, 11 steals and a 68:133 BB:K in 542 plate appearances.
