Ranking all 26 USMNT Players

Your complete guide to get to know the players who will be representing the USA in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino built his USMNT World Cup roster with intention. The goal wasn’t simply to stack the 26 best players from America onto a squad, but rather to highlight different skill sets and experience levels. The result is a squad composed of players from different club levels and with different playing styles.

That makes it hard to rank these players. Does past performance with the national team matter more than club performance? Or what about potential when taking into consideration that the World Cup takes place for only a month of the year? I took a look through all of this to determine my own criteria for ranking the 26-man roster from top to bottom.

Ultimately, even though it hasn’t always been indicative of national team performance, club play was a key factor in my ranking of these players. Current form matters a lot when it comes to a tournament that plays out over a single month, and it should also be easier for players with experience at this competition level than for those who rarely have shared the pitch with world-class opponents.

From stats to intangibles to health, everything was factored into this list.
