COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 02 Boston College at Florida State
USATSI

Oregon slid three spots and Florida State fell out of the Week 1 Coaches Poll after disappointing performances to open the season. The Seminoles became the first team to start the season in the top 10 and lose two games before the first in-season poll after losing against Georgia Tech in Week 0 and following it up with a loss to Boston College in their home opener.

The Ducks were picked in the preseason top three but played a nail-biter against FCS Idaho in their opener to fall in the poll. No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Ole Miss all rose a spot to fill Oregon's gap. Ohio State kept its stranglehold on No. 2 and joined No. 1 Georgia as the only teams with multiple first-place votes.

USC was also the biggest riser of the poll after beating LSU in a season-opening matchup and rising to No. 14. LSU dropped seven spots to No. 12, while Clemson fell to No. 22 after losing against Georgia. However, the Tigers still remain ahead of ACC foes NC State and Louisville, along with No. 25 Washington, which entered the field.

Here's a full look at the Coaches Poll top 25 after Week 1. First-place votes are listed in parentheses.
